Ambassador Hong Xiaoyong Pays a Courtesy Call on Permanent Secretary Chee Wee Kiong

On 22nd March 2018, Ambassador Hong Xiaoyong paid a courtesy call on Mr Chee Wee Kiong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore. Mr Fang Xinwen, Minister-Counsellor in the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, and Mr Eric Teo, Director-General of the Northeast Asia Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, were present at the meeting.

Ambassador Hong said, China-Singapore relations enjoy a sound momentum at present. China stands ready to work together with Singapore for closer bilateral cooperation and earnest implementation of the important consensus reached by two leaders, so as to bring our bilateral relations of All-round Cooperative Partnership Progressing with the Times to a new height.

Ambassador Hong stated that China firmly supports ASEAN solidarity and development, supports Singapore in its dual role as the rotating chair of ASEAN and the country coordinator for China-ASEAN relations. Building on the momentum of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN strategic partnership, China hopes to further deepen China-ASEAN relations as well as East Asia cooperation in the days to come.

Permanent Secretary Chee extended a cordial welcome to Ambassador Hong and expressed Singapore’s readiness to join hands with China to deepen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and to push for fresh progress in Singapore-China relations as well as ASEAN-China relations.
