Premier Li Keqiang Sends Message of Condolences to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore over the Death of Lee Kuan Yew

On March 23, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang sent message of condolences to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore over the sad news of the death of Lee Kuan Yew, former Prime Minister of Singapore. On behalf of the Chinese government and people and in his own name, Li Keqiang expressed deep condolences to the Singaporean government and people and profound sympathy to Lee Hsien Loong and his families.

In his message of condolences, Li Keqiang expressed that Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, together with older generations of Chinese leadership, opened a door to China-Singapore friendly cooperation. His contributions to China-Singapore relations and China's reform and opening-up will surely be written into the annals of history. Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, a worldly recognized strategist and statesman known as the founding father and developer of Singapore as well as one of the founders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), had made significant contributions to peace and development in the region.

Li Keqiang expressed that Singapore is one of the key friendly neighboring countries of China. China stands ready to work together with Singapore to carry forward the friendly tradition co-initiated and carefully nurtured by several generations of leaderships of the two countries and to continuously advance the China-Singapore friendly cooperative relations.
