The China Youth Art Theater was founded in April 1949.Its predecessor was the Yan’an Youth’s Art Theater established in 1941.
Since its founding, the Theater has staged some 200 plays and dozens of one-act plays. It now has more than 140 artists with membership of the Chinese Dramatists’ Association, over 100 artists with senior professional titles and has won some 300 prizes in competitions home and abroad.

The Central Experimental Drama Theater was established in September 1956. For more than forty years, the Theater has produced a great number of good stage dramas, including not only the masterpieces of the Chinese drama masters but also of foreign great masters. In the 1990’s, the Theater paid performing visits to many countries and received high praise.

The China Opera and Dance Theater was established in 1950. The theater has two performing troupes (the opera troupe and the dancing drama troupe), two music ensembles (the national music ensemble and the orchestra) and a complete stage design department.
For over forty years, the Theater has produced on stage some one hundred well-known operas and has paid performing visits to several countries in Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The Ensemble ,founded in September1952, is the only performing art troupe of the ethnic minorities at the national level.
The Ensemble aims at preserving, promoting and developing the minority ethnic arts and culture. It has visited more than 100 countries and regions across the world and won high acclaim because of its strong ethnic color and outstanding artistic style.
The Ensemble has over 300 actors, actress and staff from 36 ethnic groups including Mongolian, Hui, Zhuang, Manchu, Tibetan, Yi, Korean, and Han. Over the past 40 old years , the Ensemble  has nurtured and gathered several generations of talented and resourceful singers, dancers, and performers as well as composers and songwriters, playwrights and directors. As early as in the 1950s, it had already among its ranks such nationally well-known artists as Wu Xiaobang, Jia Zhouguang and Hu Songhua. The ensemble has now famous artists like jiang Dawei, De Dema, Yang Liping and Teng Geer.

The troupe was established in 1953 with China Broadcasting Philharmonic Orchestra, China Broadcasting National Orchestra , China Broadcasting Chorus, China Broadcasting Folk Art Company and China Broadcasting Electric-Sound Music Company as its subordinates . Over the past 46 years, a vast amount of excellent plays have been produced for the program of TV Broadcasting and Film, and the Ensemble often gave touring performance with a wide and lasting influence. The Troupe has taken an active part in international cultural exchange. Its artists visited more than thirty countries of the world and gained great prizes with their superb performance in international competitions. It gained three gold and one silver medals at the Fifth International Chorus Festival held in Japan.

The orchestra was founded in 1949. Since then, it has recorded music for about 2000 films, TV-programs, documentary films and films on a special topic. Over the years, the Orchestra frequently have  given concerts of film, symphony, of national music and light music. The artists of the Orchestra has visited more than 40 countries, they cooperated with renowned conductors, composers and dancers to perform symphony, famous opera, ballet successfully, thus promoting the development of national music and international exchange of culture.

The Troupe was formed in 1948. The Troupe was set up in 1954 as the Northeast Workers’ School Art Troupe(1947) and was later merged with the North China Coal Mine Art Troupe in Beijing.
The representative repertoire of the troupe includes song and dance poetic play: “Sunrise Impression”, “King Zhao Wuling”; radio play: “Colliery Sonata”; dances: “Latin Group Dance ”etc. The troupe has more than thirty 1st  grade artists and has paid visits to many countries.
Song and Dance Ensemble of PLA General Political Department
The Ensemble was founded in May 1953. Since its founding , it has had over 100 artists and programs winning prizes at the national and army art festivals and contests.
