Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan calls on Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew

SINGAPORE, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan called on Singapore Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew here on Tuesday.

During their meeting, Wang spoke highly of Lee's contribution to promoting the development of the bilateral relations. He said that both countries should explore new cooperation areas based on the past good experience.

He added that in the backdrop of the current economic crisis, China, as the largest developing country, should continue to reform its industrial structures and maintain the steady and fast economic development.

Lee said that since the 1980s, Singapore has believed that China will make great achievements with the reform and opening-up policy, and made the correct decision to enhance cooperation with China. He said that Singapore is confident in the future of China, and China's development is unstoppable.
