On October 13, 2020 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was visiting Southeast Asia, made a transit visit to Singapore and held talks with Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan of Singapore.

Vivian said, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and China. The two countries help and support each other, and have successfully withstood the test of the epidemic, underscoring the maturity and tenacity of the ties between Singapore and China. Singapore congratulates China on its achievements in epidemic prevention and control, whose performance is among the best in the world. Singapore has full confidence in China and hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, maintain high-level exchanges, and resume normal personnel exchanges as soon as possible when the pandemic requires regular prevention and control of the disease, so as to promote the in-depth development of Singapore-China relations.

Wang Yi said, Singapore is a good friend and partner of China. The two sides understand, support, help and trust each other. The bilateral relations have withstood the test of the epidemic, and the friendship between the two peoples has been further enhanced in our joint fight against the COVID-19. In the face of the new challenges and new topics posed by the epidemic, both sides should strengthen strategic communication and close cooperation, stand firm in the chaos, and open up a new situation in the changing environment. China is willing to strengthen bilateral and tripartite cooperation together with Singapore in vaccine research and development, and jointly promote the establishment of a "fast lane" for regional personnel exchanges and a network of "green lane" for material circulation.
